Welcome to the second part of our visit to  the Champs-Elysées in Paris. In the 2nd installment of our video tour of the Champs-Elysées we will check out the Arc de Triomphe, local restaurants and nightlife spots. You can watch Part 1 of our Video Tour of the Champs-Elysées here.

Video Tour of the Champs Élysées in Paris – Part 2 (5:12)

In the first part, we looked at the History of Champs-Elysées, the Place de la Concorde, the Grand and Petit Palais, some notable statues and the glitz and glamour of Avenue Montaigne.  If you missed part 1, here’s the link: Video Tour of the Champs-Elysées, Paris.

Located on the right bank of Paris and in the 8th arrondissement, the Champ Elysées stretches from beautiful Place de la Concorde, in front of the Hotel Crillon and the Tuileries Gardens, to the Seine’s riverbank towards the Arc de Triomphe. Bordered to the north by the presidential Palais de l’Elysée and to the south by Grand Palais and Petit Palais, the Champs-Elysées is also where one of the most expensive streets of Paris, l’Avenue Montaigne, begins.

Palais de l’Elysées and Theaters

Many come to Paris for its various forms of entertainment. If Parisians are good at this, it’s because they started this tradition with the building of several operas & theaters early in the 19th century, especially with the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées (15 Avenue Montaigne) and the Théâtre du Rond-Point (2 Bis Avenue Franklin Delano Roosevelt). Close to these mythical theaters is the Palais de l’Elysée (55 Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré), official residence of the President of France and the first lady. If you get close enough to the Palace, don’t miss the rooster on the front door, an old symbol Napoleon tried to change to an eagle, without success!

L’Arc de Triomphe

On top of l’Arc de Triomphe, which is about 50 meters tall, is one of the best views of the Champs-Elysées. Commissioned by Napoleon in 1806 but not finished until 1836, this triumphal arch is one of Paris’ best-known monuments. It’s also right in the center of one of the city’s busiest traffic circles, l’Etoile so if you decide to drive through it, it is at your own risk!

The best way to experience Paris is to skip the hotel room and stay in a Paris apartment. If their creamy Parisian pastries or crepes aren’t for you, then you may want to grab a drink at one of the neighborhood’s classic cafes including Fouquet’s, The Deauville or  the Renault shop & café. .

After finishing up with the day time activities, check out the night life.  If you want to dance move to the classic & always fun Le Régine (51 Rue de Ponthieu) or join the worldwide famous Queen (102 Avenue des Champs-Elysées), the clubs get started around 2 or 3 in the morning and don’t stop until dawn!

Want to have a great view of the Eiffel Tower? Once you’ve toured the Arc of Triumph and are ready to move on to other parts of Paris, drop down into the Charles de Gaulle Etoile metro station and take the light green 6 line, towards Nation.  After you stop at the station called “Passy”, stay on the train, but get your camera ready, because the train will take you across a bridge over the Seine and you’ll get a unique view of the Eiffel Tower from the train.  Once on the other side of the bridge, get off at Bir-Hakeim station and follow the crowds to the foot of the Eiffel tower, in the 7th arrondissement of Paris.
